Overnight Skin Treatments

As it's coming to the end of skincare week I thought I would round things off with the products I love but don't use on a daily basis. I covered my favourite face masks relatively recently (you can click here if you missed it), so I thought I would focus on the overnight treatments I love so much they have to be mentioned.

Overnight Skin Treatments and Masks

Let's start with oils and first up is The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil. It is slightly thicker than traditional oils, so it leaves the skin feeling intensely hydrated and nourished. It sinks in quickly and doesn't leave the skin feeling greasy so can be used either with or without moisturiser. Personally, on days when my skin is feeling dry and dehydrated, I like to use a lightweight moisturiser afterwards as it locks in the hydration from the oil. This is the most budget-friendly of the hydrating options I own, but it still works wonderfully and leaves my skin without a dry patch in sight.

I have to give a quick mention to Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which was meant to be in the post, but somewhere between picking out my favourite items and actually taking the photographs it got misplaced. It is a beautiful oil which would be perfect for any skin type as it isn't over hydrating. It is very soothing, and my skin looks and feels smoother and more plump by the morning.

The Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial is my go-to product when I know my skin has to be on point the next day. It is a complete do-it-all so can be used after cleansing as a routine-in-one, or after an exfoliating acid and spritz acting as both serum/oil and a moisturiser. I did a full review here so I won't go into too much detail, but it is a seriously luxe skin perfecter.

I know technically these next two are masks, but I use them overnight so thought they deserved a quick shout-out. First up is GlamGlow ThirstyMud which as it's name suggests is a deeply hydrating mask. However, it feels very lightweight so doesn't 'clog up' my skin, but still gives a great amount of hydration. This can be used as a traditional 10 minute masks, but at almost £50 for 50g I like to keep this on my face for as long as possible. I also love Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask as a richer alternative. This is definitely more for seriously dry or dehydrated skin as it is really creamy and moisturising. It is perfect for plane rides, long car journeys or any-time your skin will be exposed to air-conditioning for long periods of time.

Finally I can't write a post like this without mentioning Alpha-H Liquid Gold as the crème de la crème of overnight treatments. I did a review and comparison of exfoliating acids here if you want any more details. This is a pretty strong product so should only be used a couple of times a week, and in conjunction with a good SPF as using AHAs can increase the risk of sun damage. It really cleans away all the dead skins cells and dullness, it's almost like waking up with new skin! It is so easy to use, just sweep it across your face and décolletage on a cotton pad after cleansing, and that's it. It is a one-step routine which leaves my skin glowing.

I hope you have enjoyed skincare week, if you missed my morning and evening routines you can catch them here and here. I would love to know your favourite skincare products so be sure to leave me a comment.

  1. I really need to try more overnight skincare treatments, I do however own the Origins one featured in this post and really enjoy using it (the smell is lovely!)
