MAC Lipstick Collection

I haven't done a MAC lipstick collection before, because well, I am not sure you could call four a collection. But there are a couple of shades that don't get talked about much online, and I have just bought a fifth, so I thought I would compile a mini collection post.

From L-R

Ruby Woo - Retro Matte
I am sure almost every makeup lover owns or has owned Ruby Woo, and I can totally see why. It is a stunning medium red shade with cool undertones; perfect for the Christmas party and as a lovely Spring bright. Even though it is matte, personally I find it more comfortable to wear than many people say, and I don't find it overly dries out my lips. Plus, it lasts for ages! So there is no need to reapply on a night out. I received mine as part of a Christmas gift set last year, also containing a matching lip gloss and lip liner. The liner makes the lipstick even more long lasting, and would definitely be one I would recommend. The gloss looks stunning gently blotted over the top to create a subtle glossy look, but given it's highly pigmented formula it can also be worn alone with an almost liquid lipstick feel.

Viva Glam IV - Frost
This is one that seems to get mentioned quite a lot over here (see Transitioning into Autumn and Autumnal Lip Duo) so I won't ramble too much. It is a gorgeous berry shade, which given it's frosty finish can vary in appearance in different lights. That being said, don't be put off by the Frost formula, it is sheeny, but a very wearable colour.

Hot Gossip - Cremesheen
I think this one has got to be my favourite and most worn of the lot, as it is a perfect my-lips-but-better pink with a slight purple undertone. It goes with every eye look and can be worn on any occasion. Definitely an underrated shade.

Fanfare - Cremesheen
Fanfare is the slightly paler, peacher version of Hot Gossip, without being really peachy at all. It's the perfect nude pink shade for anyone who doesn't like really pale nudes. Obviously being a Cremesheen it is comfortable to wear and moisturising on the lips, great for everyday.

Plumful - Lustre
This is the newest of the bunch; I only actually bought it today, but I seriously love it! I can't comment on the longevity of this formula, but the colour is stunning. As the names suggests it is a plummy shade, and on my lips looks slightly on the pinker side of berry. As a Lustre finish, is is slightly sheer, but definitely more pigmented than some others in the range, so is a totally wearable Autumn shade if you don't like the shimmer in Viva Glam IV

I think Twig or Faux are next on my list to purchase. What are your MAC recommendations?

    1. It's so lovely! That was me for ages, and I've finally taken the plunge. Although it's slightly sheerer than I expected, it's really beautiful! Thank you xx
